Facts and Questions
How long does it take to make a quilt?
This is a hard question to answer! It depends on the complexity of the project, the size of the project, and the amount of quilting needed. While I work fast, it can still take a few weeks to a few months for me to complete a quilt. Smaller quilts can be created in as few as a few days, larger ones as long as a year! And then we need to factor in the quilting work. Some quilt tops need to go to a professional LongArm quilter to be completed, and that time frame depends on the quilter’s availability. I will do my best to give you a reasonable time perimeter. If you have a time constraint, we can discuss.
Is there a return policy?
If you are purchasing a “premade” vintage embroidery quilt, art quilt or Tactile Textile book, these can be returned if you let me know within 7 days of receipt. You will need to pay to ship the item back to me, and you will be refunded the purchase price (less the original shipping cost).
If you have ordered a custom item and are unhappy, please let me know immediately, and we will work to make sure it meets your expectations. Please understand custom work is not “returnable” per se.
How does the process work for a custom quilt or vintage quilt repair?
First, reach out to me with an email, including any pertinent information and photographs. We will then arrange a time to meet by phone to discuss your desired project. If you have specific items to be worked on, or textiles to be repaired or included, you will need to ship those to me. We will estimate a time frame for the production and completion of your project, being aware this is an estimate. A deposit will be required upfront. And prior to the finished product being shipped, the final payment will be due.
What do I do if I want a special quilt but am not 100% sure what I want?
The best way to resolve this is to search the web for ideas! Or spend some time looking in my Gallery section for completed quilts. I have many books with ideas, and once I have an understanding of your goal, we can work together, either repairing an heirloom quilt, completing the quilt project you inherited, or creating the custom quilt project you have always desired.
How does payment work?
As these projects can take a long while and require expenses for fabrics and materials, EHQuilts will estimate an idea of the overall cost. A deposit of 30% of that estimate will be due before work starts. This can be provided by Venmo, Paypal or mailed check. The final bill will be calculated by the material costs, shipping charge (including insurance for total cost), and hourly charge for hours worked (I use HoursTracker).
